Providing the organising principle for leading others
We are at our most creative and committed when inspired by a cause that offers us personal meaning and fulfilment. It is usually something that is beyond the ordinary which captivates our attention and inspires us to have new thoughts and insights.
Inspirational leaders use their sense of purpose to motivate and harness the creative power of others to achieve their outcomes – to create the reality they want. They do this by helping people to make a connection between the potential (the outcome) and the current situation, so that it produces a tension that craves to resolve itself. This is the energy required for change to happen in a more natural and spontaneous way. The challenge is to ensure that this tension is fully aligned so that everyone is pulling together in support of the same organisational direction.
